Laura E. Rackner
Laura E. Rackner is a partner at Gearing, Rackner and Engel, LLP. Her practice focus is on all areas of family law with special emphasis on complex custody and parenting time issues.
Born in Minneapolis, MN. Rackner received her B.S. in 1979 and her J.D. in 1984, both from the University of Oregon.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Rackner served as deputy district attorney in the Marion County District Attorney’s Office; assistant attorney general in the Oregon Department of Justice; and on the staff of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Chief Counsel, Drug Enforcement Administration.
She is admitted to practice in Oregon and is a member of the Clackamas County, Multnomah County and Washington County Bar Associations; the Oregon Academy of Family Law Practitioners and the Oregon State Bar - Family Law Section. In addition she sits on the Board of Visitors for the University of Oregon School of Law.
Ms. Rackner holds the Martindale Hubbell “AV” rating, the highest awarded for professional ability and ethics. She is a frequent lecturer on litigation and settlement issues involving custody and parenting time. She is also co-author of the Oregon State Bar Family Law Book chapter on custody and parenting time.
Most recently Ms. Rackner was honored as one of Oregon's Super Lawyers by Washington Law and Politics magazine. Super Lawyers are nominated by their peers in Oregon and ranked by the magazine's blue ribbon panelists who are recognized leaders in their areas of practice.
